Oceanic Ghost Research Team Members will
respect the location and all persons who are associated with it at all times.
Oceanic
Ghost Research always reveal analysis results and maintain a
relationship for a mutually agreed period or as long as is needed.
Oceanic Ghost Research does not undertake 'ghost clearings', but can, if desired refer owners
to suitable individuals or groups if these services are requested.
Recording of Data
It is critical to record and document all
data from an investigation. By
acquiring a wealth
of data over many investigations we can provide greater
insight into the underlying conditions of potential anomalous activities. By
understanding the variables which may affect the generation of such
events we
can develop more insightful theories from our research.
Individual
experiences are
objectively recorded immediately as opposed to relying on failing memory. All
team members use a standard data sheet or digital voice recorder to
record time of their
movements, equipment being used and any personal experiences and/or extraneous factors.
Oceanic Ghost Research uses
‘data loggers’ during its investigations, which
gives objective data on natural
variables (Continuous baselines) over a longer period of time as
opposed to ‘one
off’ subjective data.
Implementation of Controlled Conditions and a Scientific Approach
Oceanic Ghost Research applies a scientific approach
to the study of reported paranormal events. This if mainly done for 2
reasons:
1) It allows a
critical appraisal of environmental conditions, thereby allowing one to better
deduce possible mundane sources for any events misperceived as
paranormal.
2) Should events
be captured or observed which cannot be explained by mundane sources, these
observations allow a clearer understanding of the conditions under which they
occurred. Observations taken in these well documented conditions may provide
greater insight into the mechanisms by which paranormal events manifest
themselves.
Such events require a level of
comparison, necessitating control. If a witness's experience is consequential of
expectation together with ambiguous stimuli, and a 'suggestive'
atmosphere, it is
imperative to control and understand that these factors are likely to
subconciously fabricate misperceptions, especially if that witness has
a positive belief system in the paranormal.
Investigating and Understanding 'Normal' Conditions
Oceanic Ghost Research takes all possible steps in
understanding the ‘natural’ or normal’
conditions within the location of an
investigation and if necessary the surrounding area is also taken into
account.
Primarily
you need to eliminate
all natural causes before determining what may be perceived as being
'paranormal and using fundamental assumptions will fail to do that.
Many
paranormal
investigations fail because the researchers present are not aware
of or
do not research all possible mundane causes and spurious factors that
may have attributed to
a
particular incident or event.
Other
Oceanic Ghost Research does not
rely on any spiritual or mediumistic ideologies. We perform all our
investigations from a critical and common sense prospective.
All
findings and data recorded during our investigations will be presented
in an impartial and unbiased way. We do not have any preconceptions or fixed notion regarding reported phenomena.
